Rheumatology Outpatient Clinics at the RCH

  • The Rheumatology team is available for outpatient appointments, and for inpatients admitted to The Royal Children's Hospital.

Our public outpatient appointments are mostly at Desk A2 on the Ground Floor, at RCH, 50 Flemington Road, Parkville.

Current patients: do you need an appointment, or want to reschedule?

    • You can request an appointment, or ask to reschedule your current appointment, through the My RCH Portal app. If you haven't signed up to the Portal yet, ask about it when you check in for your next appointment.
    • If you're not using the My RCH Portal, you can call Specialist Clinics on 9345 6180.
    • Every 12 months you'll be asked to bring in a new GP referral for medicare billing purposes. GP referrals generally expire after 12 months, and specialist referrals only last 3 months.

New patients: do you want to see someone in the public system at RCH?

    • Get a referral from your GP or medical specialist and post, fax or email it to us (see the contact us page for our details)
    • New referrals are triaged according to urgency, and will be classed as routine (up to 12 months wait), semi-urgent (3-4 months wait) or urgent (2-12 weeks wait).
    • If your referral is triaged as routine, you may be placed on a waiting list. Otherwise you will be sent an appointment letter.

What you need to bring to your child's outpatient appointment

    • An up-to-date doctor's referral (if this hasn't already been sent or faxed to us)
